Super Star Ingredients
Activated Charcoal- Is activated by exposing charcoal, usually from coconuts, to high heat, making it a more pure structure with more surface area. This means the activated charcoal becomes a porous substance that can absorb gunk from your skin. Activated Charcoal can remove impurities, cleanse and absorb excess oil, decrease blackheads, soothe acne-prone skin, and is a gentle skin exfoliator.
AHAs- Alpha Hydroxy Acids, mostly derived from citrus fruits and sugar cane, are acids used to chemically exfoliate. They can also help promote collagen and blood flow, correct discoloration, improve appearance of surface lines and wrinkles, prevent breakouts, brighten your complexion, and increase product absorption.
Antioxidants- Are found in fresh fruits and vegetables. They are known for their ability to reverse or prevent free radicals from causing oxidative stress (aging). Oxidation is the process that causes cut apples to turn brown in the air. Adding lemon juice slows that natural process down. Adding antioxidants to your skin is the same principle.
Bamboo Silica- Removes dead skin cells accumulating on the skin surface, helping to refine the appearance of skin texture and to brighten skin tone. It’s also high in antioxidants!
CoQ10- Coenzyme Q10 (or ubiquinone), is full of powerful antioxidant properties that protect the skin from environmental stressors and aids in moisture retention. It evens out skin tone, reduces dullness and tightens the skin.
DMAE- Dimethylaminoethanol (vegan). An antioxidant membrane stabilizer, it works to protect the skin and rejuvenate cell production, increasing skin firmness, brightness and smoothness. Essentially it improves the appearance of chaotic and maturing skin.
Glycolic Acid- This is an AHA. It chemically exfoliates the skin by dissolving dead cells and oils. It is also a humectant, meaning it attracts and binds water to the skin cells. Glycolic Acid can reduce signs of aging and increase elasticity and structure. This AHA can sting and cause a slight burning sensation for people who are more sensitive.
Green Tea- Green tea is anti-inflammatory, contains EGCG- a potent antioxidant to help repair skin. This tea is full of vitamins B2 and E which are both essential in maintaining collagen. Caffeine and tannins help shrink blood vessels around the eyes reducing puffiness. Such a wonderful powder for your skin!
Hibiscus- Rich in antioxidants call anthocyanocides which help fight free radicals. Free radicals are from pollutants and UV and result in premature aging.
Hyaluronic Acid- Moisturizes, smooths, and improves the texture of skin. Hyaluronic Acid molecules attract up to 1000x their weight in water which is why it’s such a great hydrator for our skin.
Niacinamide- Also known as Vitamin B3. This essential nutrient minimizes the appearance of large pores, texture of skin, protects against moisture loss, and evens out skin tone.
Pineapple & Papaya Enzymes-Pineapple contains chemical exfoliators: AHAs and bromelain. These gently dissolve the sticky substances that hold together dead skin cells. The resulting complexion is more even and brighter. Papaya contains an enzyme called papain that is responsible for skin lightening, exfoliation and repairing aging skin.
Phenoxyethanol- A preservative used in cosmetic products and is considered a safer alternative to parabens. Phenoxyethanol is rated a 2-4 on the EWG’s Skin Deep website, which is considered a low to moderate risk.
Pumpkin Puree- AHAs and enzymes gently exfoliate skin resulting in beautiful, glowing skin. Vitamins A and C refine and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Beta-carotene, a derivative of vitamin A, boosts collagen. Magnesium, Zinc, and antioxidants boosts the skin’s moisture content. Pumpkin puree also works to combat free radicals.
Retinol- Also known as Vitamin A. Retinol rejuvenates and smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is great at chemically exfoliating revealing brighter skin.
Rooibos Tea- FULL of antioxidants and has high levels of vitamins and minerals. Reduces inflammation and aging, improves skin tone, protects against sun damage, and good for acne, eczema, etc.
Rose Water- Contains antioxidants. Rose Water is a mild astringent reducing oiliness, anti-inflammatory, and calming. It balances the skin’s natural oils, reduce redness, and naturally hydrates.
White Willow Bark- You have probably heard of salicyclic acid, a powerful acne-fighting substance. White Willow Bark is a natural source of salicin, the natural version of salicyclic acid. Salicin is anti-inflammatory reducing the appearance of fine lines and pores. It has high concentrations of tannins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and other minerals that help calm the skin. White Willow Bark exfoliates, reduces oiliness and signs of aging, and improves skin’s moisture.
