About Our Products
Soaps:
Our soaps are cold processed soaps with lye and a variety of fats. We put all the ingredients on the label and we're not afraid to wash our children with them. We use mostly essential oils for scent and benefits, if we do use any natural fragrances or phthalate-free fragrances it will always be labeled. Our soaps lather great and are non-drying. Homemade soaps contain glycerin. Commercial soaps have had the glycerin removed to be sold as a separate product; this is why commercial bar soaps are drying and Honey B Soaps are great for your skin!
Packaging:
It may seem strange to tell you about the packaging we use, but we feel it is important you know. We use as little plastic as we can, period. Plastic is unavoidable and we do use it, but we use it only when we have to (ie. packaging oils, scrubs, etc). These containers can be recycled or re-purposed. There are alternatives to plastics but they are not cost effective at this time. As the demand for these alternatives becomes greater the price will drop and we will look into them again. We do use Biolefin to wrap our bath bombs and lip balms. This is a biodegradable plastic. We use tinplated steel containers for the Lotion Bars and these can be recycled or re-purposed by you. We like to use them to sort small items in drawers (buttons, pins, coins, etc). They would be cute in a sewing or craft room or to organize children's hair accessories. No matter what the container, you can feel good knowing that all our containers are all USA made products.
Essential Oils:*
An essential oil is a liquid that is usually distilled (frequently by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Essential oils are not oily at all and most are clear (some are amber or yellow in color). Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant it comes from. Some refer to essential oils as the "life force" of the plant. The use of essential oils has a long history and many believe in the healing power of these high concentrated oils. Essential oils have different therapeutic properties which are used to promote health, encourage healing and lift mood.
Fragrances: While we use mostly essential oils, sometimes we do use a natural fragrance or a phthalate-free fragrance to appeal to a larger audience. These are always clearly labeled so you can make choices to best fit your needs.
*If you are pregnant, nursing or have a seizure condition, please take the time to learn about essential oils. Some essential oils may not be appropriate for your use.
