About The Honey B Soap Co.I am the oldest of three girls. I grew up on a little hobby farm in Minnesota where we were taught the value of hard work and the beauty of living amongst nature. My parents were organic out of necessity; not because it was trendy or a life style choice. We were not rich by any means, but we had enough and we had each other. We grew our own vegetables and helped my mother preserve them in the late summer. We raised chickens, pigs, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and a handful of other animals. We had countless dogs and cats that would follow us around while we pretended we were amazon women, prairie settlers or rock stars (so glad YouTube wasn't around then!). I grew up in a magical place free of chemicals and free from the cares of the world.
I now have three daughters and one son of my own and I decided to stop working as a high school science teacher in May of 2012 and stay home with them. With my third pregnancy I felt very strongly that I should live more like I did as a child; limiting our exposure to harmful chemicals. I am not fully an earth mama, but I would say I'm crunchier than most. I did use cloth diapers, breastfed in public and have a garden, but I squish beetles, eat sugar, and sometimes color my hair. |
Natural Soaps and More
I began The Honey B as a part time home bakery, but quickly transitioned to soap. We hand-make cold process soap in our home. We use mineral pigments, clays, teas, and other botanicals to color our soaps. We list the "before" ingredients on my soaps so you can see what goes into the soap pot. An added bonus is you can actually pronounce the ingredients and you will know what they are.
We use mostly essential oils and am ever learning the benefits and properties of them. The plants that grow on our earth are the basis of most pharmaceutical drugs. I do feel modern drugs have their place, but it should not be in the things we put on our skin. I am a minimalist when it comes to ingredients. I have read that 60% of what you put ON your skin ends up IN your body. Something worth thinking about when it comes to body care products. I do occasionally use natural fragrances or phthalate-free fragrances. I will always label this accordingly so you can make the choices best for you.
Enjoy our natural, handcrafted soaps and body care products.
Be clean. Be natural.
Love, Brittany and Family
